Today marks the 150th anniversary of the charter of Senatobia, MS. The city celebrated with the unveiling of a commemorative sculpture marking that anniversary. Hundreds braved the frigid temperatures and biting wind to attend the ceremony in front of city hall. In addition to the sculpture pictured here, the city was presented with a commemorative quilt and a city flag of new design. After a brief sketch of the history of the area leading up to the charter, and a few remarks concerning the early years of the town by the Honorable Melvin McClure, everyone was invited inside to celebrate and reminisce while enjoying treats provided by local patrons.
Additional pictures will be posted later.
