Veterans Day in Dahlonega

Dahlonega has a special link with our military personnel with the local military college and ranger training facilities. According to the Dahlonega Chamber of Commerce website, “Camp Frank D. Merrill, approximately 12 miles northwest of Dahlonega at the end of Camp Wahsega Road, is home to the 5th Ranger Training Battalion (est. 1952) and the mountain phase of the U.S. Army Ranger School.” Every holiday, Dahlonega commemorates the service of our military personnel with the display of crosses and flags along the streets and highways. The float shown below has displays typical of those placed over town.
